Mold Remediation

Once mold spores settle in your home/business, they need moisture to begin growing and digesting whatever they are growing on. There are molds that can grow on wood, ceiling tiles, wallpaper, paints, carpet, drywall, and insulation. When excess moisture or water builds up in your home/business as a result of a leaky roof, high humidity, or flooding, these conditions are ideal for mold to grow. Longstanding moisture or high humidity conditions and mold growth go together. Realistically, there is no way to rid your home/business of all mold and mold spores once they occur. The way to control mold growth is to control moisture. PSI Cleaning and Restoration, Inc.® can help! With your health on the line, we cannot afford to do anything less. We take Mold Remediation seriously.

Mold Remediation Do's and Don’ts

Do's

  • Attend to and correct the water/leaking issues promptly.
  • Use a dehumidifier to lower moisture levels.
  • Seek out the most qualified mold inspectors and companies in your area.
  • Spend the money required to do any necessary remediation early and correctly or you will pay even more later as the damage spreads.

Don'ts

  • Do not ignore mold health issues, especially sudden or unexplained physical conditions.
  • Do not paint over mold. Paint is actually a food source for mold.
  • Do not assume that there is no mold because it is not visible. The worst mold infestation problems are often ones you cannot readily see.
  • Do not assume new homes/businesses are exempt from mold problems.
  • Do not assume that after a wet area has dried by itself, it is safe from mold. Mold needs moisture to grow; therefore, it can lay dormant and still be harmful to mold-sensitive people.
  • Do not use chlorine bleach to kill mold. Bleach is a highly unstable solution found to become inactive when in contact with organic substances.
  • Do not disturb mold colonies after you've located them. Air motion will send millions of viable spores into the air, cross-contaminating the remainder of the room/structure.
